Boy or Girl? Ways to find out your baby's sex

Our Early Gender Blood Test & Dating Scan (or Viability Scan) is performed from 6 weeks of pregnancy (except in certain cases, such as IVF, where the test is only performed from 8 weeks onwards). The test analyses your blood sample to look for cell-free DNA (cfDNA) from the pregnancy circulating in the mother’s bloodstream and the lab analyses this for Y chromosome markers. If no Y chromosome is detected, your baby is a girl. If Y chromosome is present, your baby is a boy. The test is over 99% accurate.

This package involves a scan too, so you’ll get to see your baby on the big screen! You’ll be offered an Early Viability Scan if you’re 6-9 weeks pregnant or a Dating Scan if you’re 9-16 weeks.  

This is a great option if you want to find out the gender of your baby as early as possible and don’t want to wait until your NHS scan. It’s quick and easy and you’ll also get to see your baby during the scan. It’s a win-win!

Our Gender Scans provide a professional opinion about the sex of your baby. You can have a Gender Scan from 16 – 32 weeks of your pregnancy. Your 15 minute appointment will include a wellbeing check of your baby, sexing of your baby, 3D printed images and a diagnostic report for you to take home.

It’s up to you whether you’d like to know baby's sex at your appointment, or if you’d like us to write it down so you can keep it secret for a later date. You can also bring up to five guests to your appointment at most of our clinics, so this is a lovely way to find out as a family and involve any siblings. The Gender Reveal Scan is perfect for parents planning a gender reveal party. As well as your ultrasound scan appointment, you’ll receive some extras to help you celebrate on the day, such as a large gender reveal cannon and five gender reveal scratchcards.

You’ll attend your scan appointment as normal at the clinic, where you’ll be able to see baby and our sonographer will perform a wellbeing check to make sure everything is ok. For most of our clinics you can also bring up to five guests too, so another great option if you have family members you’d like to involve too.
