General Sports Performance Bloods Package

Our General Sports Performance Bloods Package gives you a clear picture of the key markers linked to sports performance.

This package is ideal if you want a general overview of how your body is coping with regular exercise and physical activity. It looks at key markers linked to energy levels, recovery, inflammation and overall metabolic health.

The blood tests can help identify common issues such as vitamin or iron deficiency, signs of inflammation, or changes in blood sugar and cholesterol that may impact performance and recovery. It’s well suited to recreational athletes, active individuals, or anyone looking to support training, improve recovery, or maintain good overall fitness. This package will help you train smarter, not harder.

Vitamin D blood test measures whether you have sufficient, insufficient or deficient vitamin D levels. Vitamin D is essential for helping the body absorb calcium, supporting strong bones and teeth, maintaining muscle function and helping the immune system work properly.

Ferritin is a protein that stores iron in your body. This blood test helps to determine whether you have too little iron, which can lead to iron deficiency or iron deficiency anaemia. Low ferritin levels are often accompanied by symptoms of fatigue, weakness, hair thinning, shortness of breath or pale skin.

This blood test measures the level of holotranscobalamin, the form of vitamin B12 that is available for your body's cells to use. It helps to determine if you have a B12 deficiency.

This blood test measures the levels of CRP. CRP is a protein that is produced in the liver in response to inflammation in the body. This test helps to identify the presence and severity of inflammation in the body, which may be caused by infections, autoimmune conditions, or tissue injury.

The HBA1C Glycosylated blood test measures the level of sugar in your blood by assessing how much glucose is attached to haemoglobin in the red blood cells. This test provides a longer-term picture of blood glucose levels.

Our urea and electrolytes blood test measures the levels of urea, creatinine and key electrolytes such as sodium and potassium in the blood. It is used to assess kidney function, fluid balance and electrolyte levels, which are essential for maintaining proper nerve, muscle and heart health.

A full blood count blood test is used to look at the health of your blood cells, by looking at the size, shape and volume of platelets in the blood. Platelets are what causes blood to clot.

The lipid profile blood test measures the levels of fats in your blood, including cholesterol and triglycerides. This test helps to identify potential risk factors for cardiovascular diseases.

  • If you're on anticoagulant medication, take it after the appointment: If this is not possible, you can take it before the appointment, if it's absolutely essential.

  • Let our clinic team know if you are nervous about needles: They will make sure you're calm and comfortable and do everything they can to make your blood draw quick and simple.

Frequently Asked Questions

It's not unusual for some bleeding to occur under the skin following your blood test, and sometimes this can extend a little further around the puncture site. If this causes you concern, check with your practice nurse.

As healthcare professionals the health and wellbeing of you and your baby is our priority. There may be occasions when we need to discuss unexpected findings or bad news. If this happens during your scan, our team will ensure you receive the best possible compassionate care delivered to you as sensitively as possible.

We will also recommend your next steps. With your consent, we can contact the local early pregnancy unit or midwife on your behalf where possible. For general health scans, we can email our report and supporting images to your GP.

If after your scan you become concerned about the scan itself or your images and video clips, just call the clinic where you had your scan to discuss any concerns. If the clinic is closed, contact our head office who will be more than happy to help with your query.

There could be occasions where we cannot get.a blood sample from you. This can happen for many reasons, such as not being hydrated enough, feeling cold or recently having another blood test. If this does happen, don't worry, we will offer you another appointment so we can try again.
