Standards you can trust
We only employ fully qualified healthcare professionals, because your health is always our top priority. All our sonographers are expertly trained, and many of them also work in their local NHS.
All our sonographers are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council or the Register of Clinical Technologists (often both) to ensure that they are always up to date with the latest safety guidelines.
We’re also registered with the Care Quality Commission, an independent regulator in England, to make sure you always receive the highest possible standard of care. The Care Quality Commission’s values of excellence, caring, integrity and teamwork are vital to us as a business.
The best choice for pregnancy scans
Our healthcare standards apply to all our pregnancy scans. We don’t offer non-diagnostic 4D scans purely for entertainment: the wellbeing of you and your baby is always our priority. And we’ll never recommend unnecessary scans.
Our secure online booking system calculates the best day for your appointment based on how many weeks pregnant you are, or the date of your last menstrual period.
Your appointment will be led by a sonographer and a clinical assistant. The clinical assistant will welcome you, guide you through the informed consent process, take blood if you are having a blood test, and make sure you’re relaxed and happy.
A history of care
In 1998, Jan and Mike Steward wanted to give pregnant women more choice and a truly relaxing, special, experience with their ultrasound appointments. And so Ultrasound Direct, originally known as Babybond was born! In 2011, we expanded our services to make sure everyone, whether pregnant or not, could access high quality private health ultrasound scans.
Jan brought care and passion to the business, as an NHS sonographer, and Mike brought huge technical expertise as an engineer. He even worked on the first 3D scanners in 1994.
