This gynecological scan is available to women of a child bearing age and is designed
for those undergoing/about to undergo fertility treatment either within the UK
ultrasound scan also includes a blood test/s from TDL Ltd. The blood needs to be taken either by us at the time of your appointment or privately by your GP or local phlebotomist. This scan includes one free blood test from the list below with subsequent tests priced individually, please select all blood tests on the day at your appointment.

When you book online, depending on your chosen clinic location we may contact you to arrange the most convenient way for you to have your bloods taken close by.
Your blood test results will be available approximately 7 working days after your appointment and we recommend that you present the results to your healthcare professional whose contact details we take at the time of your booking.
The ultrasound scan is best performed trans vaginally* for optimum clarity and results. Further blood tests are available at certain clinics. Please see bottom of the page for details.
We will perform a detailed scan to look at the size shape and condition of the:
- Endometrium (lining of the womb)
- Both Ovaries – with ovulation time estimated
- Pelvic area
Common examples of having this ultrasound scan are:
Evaluating the wellbeing of the uterus and ovaries before conception or assisted conception
- Measuring follicles and estimating time of ovulation
- Measuring the endometrial thickness for assisted conception
We will provide a Sonographer report at the time with a Medical Follow Up Recommendation.

Important - your personal information
The blood tests combined with the fertility scan are analysed in the UK by our authorised partners TDL . By booking a fertility scan + bloods appointment with us you are agreeing to your personal information being shared with TDL solely for the purpose of this test. Your express permission will also be asked during your appointment.
Recommended to include a trans-vaginal scan with consent.
Need to expose lower part of abdomen so ideally wear 2 piece garments i.e trousers or skirt and top.
*If you choose not to have a trans-vaginal scan we may be able to complete the scan trans abdominally however please note that results may not be as accurate. A full bladder will be required for a trans abdominal scan.
For a trans abdominal scan please arrive with a full bladder and do not empty your bladder before the examination. We suggest you drink at least 0.5ltr (1 pint) of clear fluid 1 hour before your appointment time. Milk and fizzy drinks are not recommended.
Maintain normal medication.
All of our first line ultrasound scans are optional. You must be at least 16 years old and you should have no existing medical condition or treatment pending that relates to the scan you are booking. If you are in any doubt about having any type of scan, you should consult your GP.

Are your sonographers qualified?
Yes. All our sonographers are fully trained and qualified to perform ultrasound scans and many of them also work in the NHS locally. Scans with Ultrasound Direct will always be performed by a qualified professional whose primary interest is your health. All our sonographers take care to follow the latest safety guidelines and are registered with the HCPC. We’re also registered with the independent regulator the Care Quality Commission to ensure the highest standards possible.
What if I get bad news during my scan?
In the event of unexpected findings: we will offer clear advice on the next steps available to you and will offer to contact the local hospital on your behalf.
Should you receive bad news in your scan you are welcome to take time in private in our clinics to process the news and gather your thoughts before leaving: we never want you to feel rushed.
